Inspired by the world, crafted for Pittsburgh.
Our story
Our journey to becoming builders in the Mexican War Streets was anything but ordinary. It was shaped by years spent living just outside of NYC and Chicago, where we were immersed in the distinct architectural narratives of two of America's most iconic cities. From the elegant brownstones of Brooklyn to the bold, early modernism of Chicago, we developed a deep appreciation for architectural innovation, urban preservation, and the meticulous craftsmanship that defines these communities.
This global perspective, however, was anchored by a personal mission right here in Pittsburgh. In 2022, we rolled up our sleeves for our first renovation project in Shadyside, bringing our years of passive learning to life. This hands-on experience taught us the unique character of Pittsburgh's historic homes. Having worked on our own homes, first in Shadyside and now in the Mexican War Streets, we understand the process from a homeowner's perspective, ensuring every project is handled with the care and personal investment we'd expect for ourselves.
Our philosophy
We believe that great architecture is a dialogue between past and present. Our experience in bustling metropolitan areas gave us a broad palette of styles and techniques, from modern minimalism to timeless historical restoration. Our roots in Pittsburgh have given us a profound respect for local context. At Huelsbeck &. Co., we use this diverse knowledge to create truly bespoke homes that are both globally inspired and locally relevant. We're not just building structures; we're crafting enduring legacies that honor our city's history while embracing a modern, personalized aesthetic.
